Jim Lyons is a senior resident at the Webster House, a community for the elderly in Palo Alto. He has dedicated his life to service and education, working as the Dean of Students at Haverford College, and later, Stanford. He suffers from macular degeneration, a disease which slowly robs him of his sight, but acts nonchalant about his condition. He writes a column called Musings from the Lyons Den to share his insights on the world with those around him, and is full of entertaining, and at times, outlandish, stories. He is pictured above, editing the column, in his office.
