田上先生

This is my Japanese school literature teacher Tomoko Tanouye, although I prefer to call her Tanouye sensei. She had been a teacher all her life, although she used to teach English in Japan and now teaches Japanese literature in America. She currently works at San Francisco's Japanese school and has been teaching for over 36 years. She recently lost her daughter in the Oakland Ghost Ship Fire of 2016 but has contiued to teach after only a short break of two months. This is a picture of her in my classroom, preparing for her lesson and the second photo is her laughing during our chat together. I chose to include these photo because it captures her working in her element and also her kind-hearted and bright side.
